Cleon Peterson
Finding his roots in Greco-Roman vases, this enigmatic artistic figure perfectly interprets and embodies today’s chaos and darkness in a world where, for him, the political power is corrupted and criminals are in charge. The inhabitants of this unsettling scenery that he depicts are forced to take shelter in the only possible way to escape consisting of fleeting pleasures like violence, sex, drugs and religion.
Ethic is not part of Peterson’s idea of world and this factor leads his artworks to be deprived of a clear context. Having had a difficult life, full of obstacles like drug addiction and psychosis, Peterson’s art is deeply influenced by his personal incidents that shaped this anguished and profound artist.
The basic and almost primitive lines of the body figures he portraits are suitable for his intent of not distracting the viewer letting him immerse himself into the strength of the message that Peterson wants to convey.

Galápagos Islands: A long way off the coast of Ecuador you can find the Galápagos islands, a volcanic archipelago in the Pacific Ocean. Its isolated terrain is home to a diversity of plant and animal species that is unlike any other place in the world. Between the 17th and 18th centuries the islands served as a sanctuary and hideaway for pirates and whalers. In 1835 Charles Darwin visited the islands, and his observations formed the inspiration for his Theory of Evolution.
A striking piece by Cleon Peterson, this particular piece is characterized by its intense red palette, which is a signature element of Peterson's style. His work typically explores themes of chaos, violence, and the darker sides of human nature, often depicting stark, graphic figures engaged in conflict or struggle.
Peterson's art is influenced by his experiences and the world around him, blending elements of street art, graphic design, and fine art. "Sublime Red 2020" continues this tradition, offering a visually compelling and thought-provoking piece that invites viewers to reflect on the themes it portrays.

Cleon’s art always has a powerful vision of the darkest impulses of contemporary society. His works are filled with color black and other strong ones (red, gold, silver, etc). The character is standing looking at the island Galapagos from the coastline. In this special print, you can find the power of nature as well, the sun and the reflection of the water. Yet the vivid color demonstrate a strong determined emotional.
