Hajime Sorayama

Hajime Sorayama is a Japanese artist who graduated from Chubi Central Art School in Tokyo in 1969. He began his career in advertising before moving to Hollywood, where he contributed to the visual effects of sci-fi films. Still very alive and very productive, Hajime Sorayama is an illustrator who became famous through erotic/technological pin up figurines known as "sexy robots".

In 1999, Sorayama received the Good Design Award from the Ministry of Trade and Industry and the Media Arts Festival Grand Prize from the Agency of Cultural Affairs for his concept design work on Sony's entertainment robot, 'AIBO.'

Currently residing and working in Tokyo, Japan, Sorayama's pieces are part of the permanent collections at the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Smithsonian Institution in Washington DC. 

Promoted recently by Nanzuka Gallery, Hajime Sorayama worked with Dior and did other famous collabs, with Star Wars or even with the music group The Weekend in 2021.
